School is off to a good start, but as a teacher I always want to know how the kiddos feel about each other. I can usually identify and have a feeling of the class dynamics, but am I right?
Do you have kiddos that have trouble learning the letters and their sounds? I have a tip that can help you out.I had kiddos in my class who had trouble associating letters and sounds. I decided I needed a “tool” to practice with them as a whole group, each day.
Have you ever wanted to come up with a practical way to include all the memories of a school year? I know I did. I wanted a way to organize, and keep memories for my kiddos and their parents. I also wanted it to be a way I could chart professional growth as in a Portfolio. With all the demands in the classroom, it was getting harder and harder to accomplish a memory/portfolio.
Do you like candy or do you have a book you can hardly wait to read? I do, its Nancy Carlson’s book, Harriet’s Halloween Candy! I love this book and every time I read it. It brings memories back to me of my own children when they were little. They hid their candy from each other, along with Mom and Dad!
One of the best things I ever did in Writers Workshop was to introduce topic cards. My kindergartners seemed to have trouble coming up with ideas for writing. I found it was difficult for my kindergartners to come up with the stories. I would model in a mini lesson with a story or topic, but there still needed to be something else to help the kiddos come up with writing ideas. It needed to be a picture, a visual piece.
