A practical way to include all the memories of a school year!

Have you ever wanted to come up with a practical way to include all the memories of a school year? I know I did.  I wanted a way to organize, and keep  memories for my kiddos and their parents. I also  wanted it to be a way I could chart professional growth as in a Portfolio.  With all the demands in the classroom, it was getting harder and harder to accomplish a memory/portfolio.

My Best Writer’s Workshop Tip

One of the best things I ever did in Writers Workshop was to introduce topic cards.  My kindergartners seemed to have trouble coming up with ideas for writing.  I found it was difficult for my kindergartners to come up with the stories.  I would model in a mini lesson with a story or topic, but there still needed to be something else to help the kiddos come up with writing ideas.  It needed to be a picture, a visual piece.

Simple Alphabet Recognition and Matching Letters Ideas

Are the kiddos in your classroom needing help with alphabet recognition or matching uppercase letters to lower case letters?  I have a simple game the kiddos  love playing, and ask to play it again and again.

There are two ways to play the game.  One is an alphabet  recognition game and the other is a match game.  The game can be played in a small group or in a large group, of course the theme pictures are the motivator in the game.
