Rocks are Everywhere
I have always loved collecting rocks. I find myself looking down at the ground looking for a new rock to add to my collection. I brought this love of collecting rocks to my classroom. It is a great hobby for kids because it does not cost anything and they LOVE collecting rocks too!

When I start this unit I send a letter home asking for clear egg cartons. At school we are fortunate to have an area to be able to search and find rocks for the kiddo’s rock collection. I want the kids to collect rocks but, to put the 12 best, most beautiful, most unusual rocks in the egg carton.  This little boy just licked his rock!

The kiddos love collecting, sorting, and counting rocks. Often times it’s hard for them to choose the perfect rocks to put in the egg carton. Many times they will do an exchange because they just can’t decide. The rocks in their egg carton collection are the used for all the fun science experiments and activities you will find in this product.

I can practically guarantee you; there will be rock collectors in your class when you finish this unit.
